William Shakespeare
Faut-il défendre la technique?
To defend or not to defend the technique, that is the question. Whether 'tis nobler in the mind to suffer the slings and arrows of outrageous critics, or to take arms against a sea of doubts and by opposing end them. For what is technique but a tool, a means to an end, a method by which we may achieve our goals and aspirations? It is the craftsman's sword, the artist's brush, the musician's notes. Without technique, our efforts would be but feeble attempts at creation, lacking in precision and finesse. Yet, there are those who argue that technique stifles creativity, that it binds us to rules and conventions, preventing true originality and innovation. But I say nay, for it is through mastery of technique that we may truly soar to heights previously unimagined. Just as a bird must learn to fly before it may truly soar, so too must we embrace and defend the technique in all its forms. And so, let us not shy away from the technical aspects of our work, but rather embrace them as the stepping stones to greatness. For in the end, it is not the technique itself that matters, but how we wield it, how we infuse it with our own unique vision and voice. And so, let us defend the technique, not as a constraint, but as a liberation, a means to express the very depths of our souls.
