The case of dentist Erman is indeed a poignant example of how an individual can lose sight of the true essence of their profession and succumb to the temptations of materialism. It is a common pitfall for individuals in high positions to become blinded by their own success and status, leading them to overlook the basic principles of moral conduct. In the case of Erman, his discriminatory behavior towards patients from lower socioeconomic backgrounds is a clear indication of his misplacement of values and priorities. In order to prevent oneself from falling into the same trap as Erman, one must adhere to three fundamental moral principles that serve as guiding pillars in navigating the complexities of life. Firstly, one must always uphold the principle of equality and fairness. Regardless of one's social status or background, every individual deserves to be treated with respect and dignity. By recognizing the intrinsic worth of every human being, one can avoid the pitfalls of arrogance and discrimination. Secondly, one must cultivate a sense of empathy and compassion towards others. Empathy is the ability to put oneself in another's shoes and understand their perspective and struggles. By fostering a sense of empathy, one can develop a deeper understanding of the human condition and the interconnectedness of all beings. This sense of empathy will prevent one from becoming detached and indifferent towards the suffering of others, as was the case with Erman. Lastly, one must practice humility and self-awareness. Humility is the recognition of one's own limitations and fallibility. It is the acknowledgment that no individual is infallible and that we are all susceptible to making mistakes. By cultivating a sense of humility, one can guard against the dangers of hubris and arrogance, which can blind one to their own moral failings. In conclusion, it is essential for individuals to adhere to these three fundamental moral principles in order to lead a life of integrity and fulfillment. By upholding the principles of equality, empathy, and humility, one can avoid the pitfalls of materialism and discriminatory behavior, as seen in the case of dentist Erman. Only by staying true to these moral principles can one navigate the complexities of life and uphold the true essence of their profession.
