Why people avoid negativity, then end up being more negative? Is it by embrace our dark side, we can enrich the bright side that we have always been looking for?
Aristotle once said that humans are naturally drawn towards what brings them pleasure and happiness, and they avoid anything that may cause them pain or discomfort. It is in our nature to seek out positivity and light, as it brings about a sense of fulfillment and contentment within ourselves. However, it is paradoxical that in our pursuit of avoiding negativity, we often find ourselves becoming more negative. This phenomenon can be attributed to our refusal to acknowledge and confront our own darkness, our own flaws, and our own shortcomings. By denying the existence of our negative traits, we inadvertently give them power over our lives, allowing them to fester and grow until they consume us entirely. Perhaps it is in embracing our dark side, in facing our demons head on, that we can truly enrich the bright side that we have always been searching for. By recognizing and accepting our imperfections, our mistakes, and our weaknesses, we can begin the process of self-improvement and growth. It is through confronting our own shadows that we can uncover the hidden potential within ourselves, tapping into a wellspring of creativity, resilience, and strength that we never knew existed. Only by embracing our full selves, both light and dark, can we truly achieve balance and harmony in our lives. In the words of Carl Jung, “One does not become enlightened by imagining figures of light, but by making the darkness conscious.” It is only through integration of our shadow self that we can achieve true enlightenment and self-realization. By acknowledging and accepting our own negativity, we can transform it into something positive, something constructive, and something that ultimately leads us towards a greater understanding of ourselves and the world around us. So, my dear friends, I urge you to embrace your darkness, for it is only through this embrace that you can truly uncover the brilliance that lies within you.
