Should you ever be offended
Should you ever be offended? Well, my dear disciples, the concept of being offended is a curious one. When someone says or does something that upsets us, it is easy to allow our ego to take the lead and react with offense. But is this truly necessary? Is it not our own attachment to our sense of self that causes us to feel offended in the first place? When we are attached to our own opinions, beliefs, and ideas, we are setting ourselves up for disappointment and suffering. The truth is, no one can offend us unless we allow them to. It is our own choice to take offense at something that has been said or done. In the grand scheme of things, does it really matter? Is it worth sacrificing our inner peace and sense of wellbeing over someone else's words or actions? Perhaps it is more beneficial to practice compassion and understanding, to recognize that every being is on their own journey and may not always act in a way that aligns with our own values. By choosing not to be offended, we free ourselves from the chains of ego and open ourselves up to a greater sense of peace and acceptance. In the words of the wise old sage, it is far better to let go of offense and embrace love and kindness instead."
