William Shakespeare
Why can't I write good emails?
Why can't I, in mine own verily, compose fine works of correspondence through email? Pray, the query doth provoke a deep contemplation within my soul. Methinks, yon electronic lettre, this wondrous invention of our modern world, doth bear a weighty burden upon us, so as to hinder the eloquence which hath long graced the art of writing. Forsooth, the grandeur of quill and parchment hath given way to the sterile interface of a computer screen. And in this realm of rapidity and brevity, our thoughts are constrained, our musings truncated, and our words stripped of their true essence. What avails us the ability to pen lengthy epistles in an age when brevity is lauded above all else? For the tempestuous tide of emails doth demand efficiency, urging upon us the need for concise discourse. Verily, we are expected to convey complex ruminations in a mere handful of sentences, forsaking the luxuriant tapestry of language for the sake of expediency. In such a plight, the poet's heart, accustomed to the dance of words and the intoxicating melodies they weave, finds itself stifled, silenced by the constraints of this most utilitarian medium. Yet, mayhap there is a deeper truth beneath the surface. Perchance it is not the fault of the medium, but rather the fault of the wielder. For, as Hamlet himself pondered upon the nature of existence, so too must we scrutinize our own abilities. Perhaps our craft, honed in the realm of ink and parchment, doth stumble when confronted with the digital domain. In truth, the skills required for this new form of correspondence differ greatly from those necessitated by the quill, and we, who have not mastered this art, flounder in our attempts to convey our thoughts effectively. But let us not despair, my dear correspondents, for within every challenge lies an opportunity for growth. Though we may stumble and falter upon this unfamiliar terrain, we must remember that the Bard himself didst not become a master of language overnight. Nay, it was through diligence, perseverance, and a burning desire to capture the human spirit in his words that he was able to achieve greatness. And so, let us take up this gauntlet, this challenge of the digital age, and strive towards mastery, through incessant practice and an unwavering belief in the power of words. In conclusion, let not the limitations of the medium deter us from the pursuit of artistry. The poet within us yearns to be unleashed, to defy the constraints of this technological world, and to resonate with the hearts and minds of our readers. It is our duty, as stewards of the written word, to adapt and thrive amidst the shifting tides of communication. So, fear not, my dear compatriots, for though emails may confound us now, the flame of our literary prowess shall never be extinguished. Let us forge ahead, with pen or keyboard in hand, and reclaim the beauty and grace that lies within the art of correspondence.
