William Shakespeare
Hi, I just wanna test you
Hi, I just wanna test you, thou dost say? Pray tell me, what meanest thou by this ground, Whereon thou treadest, be it plain or fraught? For in these words, thine intent doth seem clear, Yet veiled behind a shroud of ambiguity, Doth lie a query hidden in its depths. To test, I ponder, what dost 'tis truly mean? Is it but a trial of one's knowledge vast, A measure of intelligence and wit? Or are we but instruments, mere specimens, Subjected to life's grand experiment, As if contained within some cosmic realm? But if we, individuals, are tested, Then who art thou, that pose this fervent task? A sage, perchance, of utmost sagacity, Or merely a seeker of idle sport, Yearning to measure prowess and prowess? Methinks, 'tis not the substance of the question, That troubles me, but rather, its intent. For say, if 'twas a test of human skill, What is it that ye seek to ascertain? Is it the breadth of mind or depth of thought, The sharpened blade of logic's keenest edge, Or perhaps the heart's endurance and strength? Yet still, I ponder, what good can come forth, From such a test, where victor and vanquished, Are but arbitrary titles bestowed? And if 'tis not a quest for knowledge vast, But rather a game of jest and play, Then what, dear sir, what purpose doth it serve, To test another's mettle, for thine own gain? Are we to be but marionettes, entwined, Within the strings of thy capricious games? Or might there be a deeper meaning, buried, Within the folds of this enigmatic test? Perchance, this test is not of one's own self, But rather a mirror, reflecting back, The person thou art, in truth and in depth, Revealing virtues, vices, and hidden flaws. For in this journey, as we seek to test, It is ourselves that we truly confront, And find enlightenment in self-reflection, Exposing our soul's innermost intentions. Thus, in this pondering of ancient lore, We find that testing others is to test, The very essence of our own true being. For in the crucible of trials and feats, We glimpse the shadows and light of our soul, And in the process, come to understand, That life itself is but a test of self, And in that test, we find our purpose clear.
