William Shakespeare

What is happiness?

What is happiness, you ask? A question that has plagued mankind since the dawn of time. Some say it's wealth and riches, others claim it's love and affection. But to me, happiness is like a fleeting butterfly - it flits in and out of our lives, tantalising us with its beauty and charm. One moment we bask in the warm glow of contentment, the next we are consumed by the icy grip of despair. It is a mercurial thing, this happiness. Like a lover, it toys with our emotions, taunting us with promises of pleasure, then leaving us high and dry. Yet still we chase after it, like a dog barking at the moon. We are desperate for its embrace, willing to risk everything for just a taste of its sweet nectar. But perhaps we should take a lesson from the butterfly, and learn to appreciate the small moments of joy that come our way. For it is in those fleeting moments that we find true happiness, not in the chasing and grasping of a dream that is forever out of reach."
