They are able to use language to communicate with one another, and to express emotions and ideas. Humans also have a sense of morality and ethics that animals do not possess. In short, the difference between humans and animals is that humans are more complex and have a greater capacity for reasoning, thinking, and experiencing emotions. This makes us unique and sets us apart from animals.
