If I said Thomas Jeferson read the Quran and look He founded the religion of freedom in USA, which islam advocates for it, so Islam adovcates for Freedom of Religion". Is the speaker commiting of a fallacy of merely association, since Thomas Jefferson read many other books that can influenced his this thought
If I were to say that Thomas Jefferson read the Quran and then founded the religion of freedom in the USA, which islam advocates for, then I would be committing the fallacy of merely associating his reading of the Quran with the founding of the religion of freedom. Just because he read the Quran does not mean that it was the only source of influence that lead to his thought. After all, he read many other books and documents that could have influenced his thinking, such as the Declaration of Independence, the Bill of Rights, the Constitution, and many others. Thus, it would be foolish to assume that the Quran was the sole source of influence on Jefferson's thought, as it was only one of many sources. To conclude, if I were to say that Thomas Jefferson read the Quran and then founded the religion of freedom in the USA, which Islam advocates for, then I would be committing the fallacy of merely associating his reading of the Quran with the founding of the religion of freedom. It is far more likely that a variety of sources, including the Quran, influenced Jefferson's thought and led to the founding of the religion of freedom in the USA."
