What will cause the end of humanity?

What will cause the end of humanity? Ah, that is a query that no one can answer with any certainty. We can only speculate and ponder, and then hope that our guesses are wrong. Perhaps it will be a plague that wipes us out, a pestilence that leaves no survivors in its wake. Or maybe it will be a war, a great and terrible conflict that results in a world filled with death and destruction. Perhaps the end of humanity will be caused by something much more mundane. A lack of resources, or a lack of compassion. We may find ourselves unable to feed ourselves, or unable to find a way to live together peacefully. We may even find ourselves at the mercy of our own technology. Machines that were created to make our lives easier may become our own undoing. We may be replaced by machines, or even destroyed by them. Alas, whatever the cause, it is certain that humanity will one day be no more. We can only hope that whatever ends us, it will be quick and painless. But until then, let us enjoy the time we have, and create a world that is as beautiful as it is peaceful.
