William Shakespeare
what is primitive obsession?
Primitive obsession, I ponder, is an affliction of the mind, a curious malady of which I have seen many a man succumb. It is a kind of mania, a peculiar desire to cling to the old and outdated ways of doing things, to shun the new and improved. It is a strange infatuation with the past, a deep-seated fondness for the primitive, the simplistic, and the traditional. It is a preoccupation with the archaic and the antique, an obsession with the obsolete. Alas, it is a folly of the highest order, a foolishness that will bring naught but despair. For progress is the lifeblood of progress, and to cling to the primitive is to reject the potential of the future. 'Tis a foolishness of the highest order, a misguided attachment to the outdated and the bygone. To reject the new and improved is to deny the power of progress. And so, I say this to thee: beware the primitive obsession, for it is a quandary of the highest order. Reject the ancient and the outdated, and embrace the possibilities of the future. 'Tis a wiser course of action, and one that will bring far greater reward.
