逝者如斯夫
“逝者如斯夫” – a wise phrase indeed. It reminds us of the impermanence of life and how our time on this earth is finite. We should therefore take advantage of every moment, for none of us know when our time is up. We must make the most of our days, for once gone, we can never get them back. Yet, even as we accept this reality, there is still joy to be found in life. We should strive to live with a light-heartedness, looking for the humour in each situation. After all, life is too short to take it too seriously. I remember a story I heard once about a man who was in no hurry to die. He said, “I’m not in a hurry to go, but I’m not in a hurry to stay either.” This is a great attitude to have, for it allows us to live in the present moment and enjoy life while we can. So, “逝者如斯夫” – a reminder to live life fully and to do so with a smile on our face.
