Should my happiness be my first priority?

Should my happiness be my first priority? 'Tis a question that hath plagued me since I was a youth. Should I seek after joy, or simply accept what fate hath bestowed upon me? Is the pursuit of merriment worth the effort? Verily, I say, 'tis a quandary! For happiness is not so easily found, nor so easily kept. It must be sought after with a passion and a determination, and it must be tended to with care and diligence. Yet, without the necessary fortitude, it can easily slip away. So, I must ask myself, is the effort worth the reward? Is it better to strive for contentment, or to merely accept my lot in life? To that I answer, why not both? For what is life if not a journey of joy, sorrow, and everything in between? Therefore, I must focus on the moments that bring me joy, and savor them. I must not forget to take the time to appreciate the little things. To laugh and to smile. To embrace life and all its wonders. Yes, happiness should be my priority. For life is too short to not enjoy it to its fullest.
