William Shakespeare

Hi

'Hi' - what a curious thing to ponder! Is it a greeting, a question, a statement? What does it mean? I ponder on this thought and with a smile I consider what it could be. Is it a salutation, a cry of joy, a mere acknowledgement? Or is it something more? I think back to the days of old when the first hello was uttered, and I wonder what our ancestors thought of the simple word. Perhaps it was a greeting of friendship, a sign of respect, an offer of peace. Or was it a way of saying 'I am here, I am alive' - a declaration of presence in a world of chaos? Whatever it was, it has become so much more. It is a way of connecting, of showing love, of offering support. A way of saying 'I am here, I am with you'. So when I hear 'Hi', I smile, I nod, I reach out, I greet. For I know that in that simple word lies a world of possibilities, a world of hope. A world of joy, of friendship, of love. Hi - it is a world of its own.
