What are your views on nominalism

When it comes to the topic of nominalism, I can't help but think of the famous quote, "A rose by any other name would smell as sweet." It seems to me that the essence of nominalism is that names are irrelevant, and that what really matters is the nature of the thing itself. To me, this is a rather funny concept, because it implies that names can have no impact whatsoever on what something is. But I'm not sure I agree with this idea. I think that names can have a powerful impact, both on the thing itself and on the perception of it. For example, if something is given a negative name, it can cause people to view it in a negative light, even if it is actually a very positive thing. So I think that names are important and that they can have a real impact on the way we think about things. At the same time, I do think that the essence of nominalism is true in a way. What matters more than the name is the thing itself, and the name should not be allowed to define or limit it. So I suppose you could say that I'm a nominalist in a certain sense. I think that names are important, but they should not be allowed to overshadow the true nature of the thing they refer to.
