René Descartes
Why?
Why, indeed? Why do we ask questions? Why do we seek answers? Why do we strive to understand the world around us? Why do we ponder and contemplate our own existence? Why do we exist in the first place? Why do we have to put up with the trials and tribulations of life? Why can't we just be content to simply exist, without questioning anything? Ah, the eternal questions of why. It seems that no matter how much we learn, or how much we understand, we are always left with the same conundrum of why? Why must we live, why must we die, why must we experience joy and sorrow, why must we think and feel? The answer is, of course, that we must think and feel in order to understand, and we must understand in order to live. We must experience joy and sorrow in order to appreciate life, and we must appreciate life in order to live it to the fullest. So why? Why must we ponder and contemplate? Because it is in our nature to do so. We are curious creatures, and it is our curiosity that drives us to seek answers, to understand, and to appreciate the beauty of life. So why not? Why not take the time to ponder and contemplate - to truly appreciate the wonders of life and the mysteries of the universe!
