Learn to walk

Learn to walk, they say. But why? What is the point of it? Is it merely to get from one place to another? Or is it a way of showing off, like a peacock strutting its stuff in the hopes of attracting a mate? If it is the latter, then I suppose I can understand why people feel the need to learn to walk. It is a way of asserting one’s presence in the world, of making one’s mark, of saying “I am here!” But then again, perhaps there is more to it than that. Maybe walking is a way of connecting with the world, of engaging with it, of exploring its many wonders and mysteries. Perhaps it is a way of becoming one with nature, of feeling the ground beneath our feet, of sensing the air on our skin, of breathing in the scents of the earth. Or perhaps walking is simply a form of exercise, a way of keeping fit and healthy, of getting some much needed fresh air and sunshine. Whatever the reason, it is clear that learning to walk is a necessary part of life, and a valuable skill to have. So, let us all learn to walk, and in doing so, embrace the world around us!
